Reviews

  1. 1090-4 X: Sensational. Unlike most 10-weights (and all other Sage 10-weights), the 1090-4 X continues to flex into the lower mid-section under the weight of a long line. The result is a tremendous snapping recoil the hurls the long line over the horizontal. It feels incredible and requires very little effort from the caster. If you’ve ever struggled with high line weight fly rods, try this one.

Lines: Rio Tarpon, SA Tarpon, Rio Permit, SA Sonar Intermediate Saltwater, all Rio and SA Striper lines

  2. This rod was a rockstar. I own a Salt 1090 and I really like the rod, but it is not a 10 weight that everyone can pick up and cast. The X 1090 is a 10 weight for all. Great casters will appreciate the ease and effortless way this rod loads and generates line speed. Casters who are looking to improve their odds in the saltwater world will appreciate the nuanced nature of the way this rod loads. I felt like there was a distinct area down the blank that was very easy to access and very responsive. Incredible distance with incredible ease, accuracy and control is how I would describe this rod. Very capable permit 10 weight. For a tarpon class 10 weight I’d still recommend the Salt 1090.
