  1. Sage 6101-4 X: Light, super castable and with surprising feel, the 6101-4 relates to the 4100-4 in both power and agility. I would highly recommend the 6101-4 X for single handed summer steelheading and big water trout applications. I came off the pond thinking I could fish this rod all day without tiring.

Lines: Rio Gold, Rio Grand, Rio InTouch Salmo/Steelhead, SA MPX, SA GPX Sharkwave, SA Mastery Steelhead, SA Mastery Distance Taper, all sink tips

  2. Another well-made 10 foot offering in the X line up. A very pleasant casting rod for its length, you still notice it’s a foot longer than the 691 when casting overhead, but you really notice it’s a 10 footer when you fire up a roll cast. This thing is a roll casting cannon. With proper technique I could easily turn over the whole head of a Rio Gold on the casting pond (not every rod is capable of doing this and I’m not capable of doing this with every rod either). Light in the hand for its length and line weight this rod will make summer runs shudder.
