The Scott Tidal 9012-4 is a serious tarpon rod that most anglers will find easy to cast.  This rod was prototyped and field tested in the world’s most demanding tarpon fisheries:  the Florida Keys and Florida’s west coast.

  1. Scott’s mid-priced tarpon rods have often fallen short on power. Not this one. The Tidal 9012-4 is a completely legit tarpon fly rod. The casting action is superb. It feels lighter than most $700 tarpon rods, but throws with great command off the tip. High end specialty tarpon rods, like the S4S and Sage Salt, will ultimately have advantages in fighting the fish, but the Tidal 9012-4 is the real deal.

    Fly line recommendation: All the Tidal rods will tolerate a wide variety of fly lines. They flex very evenly and forgive poor timing. Both short and long headed lines will cast well, but I specifically recommend these: Rio Tarpon SA Tarpon, SA Textured Saltwater and SA Sharkwave Saltwater.
