   I would describe this rod as “light and lively.” It casts a Rio Bonefish WF6F line beautifully, but it responds best to a relaxed, trout-style casting stroke rather than an overpower, staccato saltwater stroke. The freshwater version of this rod is well-suited to dry flies and nymphs, the saltwater version for flats fishing, trout streamers and light bass applications.

   I admittedly have a soft spot for saltwater specific 6wt rods. The thought of calm days on the flats chasing bonefish with small shrimp patterns is something many of us here in Colorado oftentimes dream of. The 690/4 IMX Pro V2S is a wonderful mid-priced light duty saltwater rod. It is remarkably smooth and is a rod that you can throw all day without tiring. It throws a nice tight loop with the Rio Elite Bonefish line and holds that tight loop well past 80 feet. The rod itself is lightweight, crisp, and predictable. This rod will handle streamer lines better than the freshwater 690/4 version but is still not tuned for really aggressive fly lines on larger articulated streamers.
