G.Loomis NRX Saltwater Fly Rods

G.Loomis NRX saltwater rods are famous worldwide.  Rod designer Steve Rajeff has a lifelong passion for saltwater angling.  Rajeff created the NRX with a proprietary resin that allowed him to use higher modulus graphite materials to make a lighter, more responsive blank that flexes evenly throughout the length of the rod.  Loomis rods are unfairly labeled as “super fast action,” designed only for experts.  The NRX is a completely unique fly rod in the sense that it responds to a powerful casting stroke, but is also incredibly easy to handle.  Every manufacturer talks about “fast recovery speed,” but no other fly rod can touch the NRX for its complete castability, springy feel and easy power.

We characterize NRX saltwater rods as “fast action.”  They are slightly stiffer than a Scott Meridian, but more flexible than the Sage Salt HD in most models.  The NRX may be paired with a wide range of saltwater fly lines.  The fast taper of these rods results in a truly progressive action, so they load beautifully regardless of the line taper or grain weights.  We recommend middle of the spectrum lines, such as the Rio Bonefish and various Scientific Anglers saltwater/bonefish/redfish/tarpon tapers.  All NRX rods are constructed with G.Loomis High Density cork handles and REC Black Ion Recoil Guides.  Reel seat components are fully anodized for saltwater protection and heavy duty use.  Like all G.Loomis fly rods, the NRX Series is built tip-to-butt in Washington State, USA.
