Sage R8 Core Fly Rods | On-the-water review
Our on-the-water review of Sage R8 Core fly rods demonstrates their versatility and efficacy on Miramonte Reservoir, hunting ground for some of the largest trout in SW Colorado.
VideosThe R8 Core series is built on Sage’s first new technological platform since KonneticHD (2016). The series features a proprietary graphite with two new fibers, one that improves efficiency and another that accentuates hoop strength. Capitalizing on these advancements, Sage engineers created a fast action fly rod that flexes a little deeper and generates more line speed with greater feedback to the caster. These are enormously fishable rods, truly expanding the creativity of the angler.
You’ll hear Sage talk about how technology makes these rods better at virtually everything, but for us, the most notable achievements are in the feel and fun factor. There is simply no question that these rods communicate more to the angler than any previous Sage. Sage refers to this as the “Amplified 2-way feedback loop.” Lively, resilient and playful, you’ll fish these rods with a little more love and potentially better results.
